What does your company do, and where can we go for more information?
We are specialists in fine, rare gemstones. Based at the source of one of the world's top gem producing areas, we are in the enviable position to be able to cherry pick the very finest stones direct from the mines. We have our own master cutters that cut in house. We offer the very finest 1% on our sophisticated online storefront www.lapigems.com We also design and custom make very fine jewelry.

How long has your company been in business?
Since 1974.

What is the most exciting part of your business?
Cutting rare gemstones. Each piece is an adventure in itself and presents a unique challenge.

What methods do you use to communicate with your clients and prospects?
We use email a lot. We also have a dedicated "Ask a Gemologist" panel on our website that allows clients to address questions directly to GIA Gemologists. We also have toll free lines if clients would prefer to call and speak to someone in person.

What sets your company apart from others in your industry?
A number of factors. Professionalism at the gemological level. We are not just sales people or jewelers, we are gemologists and experts in the trade with 40 years experience in mining, cutting and gem identification. We also pride ourselves in our customer service ethic.

What have you found to be your most effective marketing effort?
Online Marketing.

How are you using social media to promote your business?
We are working on launching a blog to communicate more directly with clients. We will also be launching a Twitter and Facebook page.

How has technology benefited your business?
Enormously. 10 years ago we had no direct contact with our end consumers around the world and generally only dealt with other dealers. We now are able to sell directly to the end consumer via the internet which cuts out a huge chunk of the traditional chain of distribution and allows clients to purchase direct from the source at a very advantageous price.

What is your goal for the next 5 and 10 years?
To become one of the foremost gemstone and jewelry entities on the internet.
