On October 5, Drew and Adam headed down to Miami to attend an MSP University Bootcamp. MSP University Bootcamps are designed to provide education and training to IT services providers. The event took place October 5-7 and gave a wealth of information that will certainly benefit our IT department.
There were lots of great speakers at the event, including Len DiCostanzo from Autotsk, a product that ACF uses every day. He talked about how using products like Autotask can increase business profitability (we couldn’t agree more!) and Adam even got to sit in on the Autotask user’s panel. Barbara Dove, of Dove Help Desk, gave a presentation on perfecting your help desk and NOC delivery. Both were great presentations from great people in the industry.

We also heard from Jim Hare and Jason LeDuc of eGestalt, who gave a great presentation on how to work as an IT vendor in the medical field, where the HIPAA umbrella is an issue. Their presentation gave great insight on some of the best practices when working for a company where HIPAA concerns would be an issue.
Another big topic was cloud computing and more specifically, how the industry is transitioning to cloud. There was also a great presentation given by Intel, who talked about new cloud technology they are rolling out to help small businesses.
The big focus of the event, however, seemed to be business continuity. There was a lot of talk about the importance of having a disaster plan set in place, which is something that Drew stresses to all of our clients. One of the big focuses in our IT department for next year is to make sure that all of our clients have a disaster recovery plan, so it was great to hear what some of the top companies in IT have in place when it comes to disaster recovery.
Both Drew and Adam thoroughly enjoyed the time they spent in Miami. They received a ton of useful information and met with a lot of great people in the industry. The added opportunity Adam received to speak on the Autotask user’s panel was an added bonus!
